The project involves conversion and alterations to two existing toilet areas in the main block of the school, including creation of a safe room and store plus refurbished toilet areas to meet current needs. Paving work is included which involves artificial turf over existing concrete paving to a covered area. The work is required to be undertaken to provide improved functional facilities until such time as a new school planned for the site can be built in a few years’ time.
With a number of special equipment installed, the toilet block is transformed into much user friendly for caring for special needs students. The use of grab rails, disable toilets, support station, and electric powered nappy change table not only provides a safer toilet environment for the students but also supports the teachers whose work involves lifting students. The bidet and the sluice sink make the cleaning of the toileting business and dirty nappies easier as well.
